Our Mission
Before Portland was covered in lawns, it was a mosaic of forests, wetlands, oak savannas, and wildflower meadows that supported abundant wildlife and healthy ecosystems. We want to bring that nature back by creating Oregon native plant landscapes that are also beautiful, livable spaces for people. By working with nature instead of against it, we create landscapes that support birds, pollinators, healthy soil, cleaner water, and the people who call them home.

Urban Rewilding was founded in 2021, but the idea began much earlier.
Growing up in Troutdale, Oregon, I spent my childhood camping, hiking, and exploring the forests, rivers, and mountains of the Pacific Northwest.
Years later, while driving home from the Salmon River Trail, I watched those lush native forests give way to subdivisions, lawns, and invasive blackberry, and I couldn't stop thinking about what had been lost.
That moment inspired a simple question: What if our neighborhoods looked more like the wild places we love? Today, Urban Rewilding helps homeowners transform conventional landscapes into thriving native ecosystems—creating wilderness spaces in urban places and proving that every yard, no matter its size, can help restore habitat, support wildlife, and reconnect people with nature.
How We Got Started
Meet The Team
Our team is made up of passionate native plant enthusiasts, bird lovers, wildlife advocates, and people who get excited about watching an ecosystem come to life. We take pride in creating beautiful, functional landscapes while continually expanding our knowledge of native plants, ecology, and regenerative landscaping practices. Whether we're restoring habitat, identifying a new insect, or exploring Pacific Northwest forests, we're always learning—because the more we understand nature, the better we can help bring it back to the places we live.
